    Lonesome Dove et. all

The entire Lonesome Dove series is great. This was the first of 4 parts.

    No Closed Captions

The story, characters and production as a whole are excellent except for one thing; the series has no closed captions. For my wife English is not her first language and reading makes her understanding of that language a lot easier. IOW reading English is easier for her to understand than hearing it spoken. For me, I have a hearing disability and captions are a must for me. Consequently, it took a lot longer for us to watch the series than normal because I had to pause the series many times to explain as best I could the scenes to my wife. I usually replayed the scenes so I could get the gist of what was being said. But we still liked the series.

  • Needed more substance in the role of rangering!

I can see how this show led into Lonesome Dove, although it seems that the timetables do not necessarily line up with Lonesome Dove. Overall a great preliminary to Lonesome Dove. The casting was well suited! I would have liked it better had there been more rangering with less time spent on the walk!

  • Dead Man's Walk

This is the last edition of the Lonesome Dove series. The story line is of Captain Call and Gus as Coporal's and just starting out. David Arquette over acts it a bit, but Johhny Lee Miller is a good young Call. Interesting note, there is a scene in Disc 3 where they come stumbling into a Mexican village along a river. As they walk into town, you can see a man in the background wearing blue jeans, a blue jacket, and carrying a camera walking along the river. It's easy to spot if you look.

  • Dead Man's Walk

I enjoy movies of the western genre. The reasonI bought this movie was because some friends and I thought it would be nice to watch the Lonesome Dove Movies from the earliest days of McCall and McCreigh till we find out what happened to Newt in a kind of movie marathon. This movie is very well done. As good as it is my prejudice may never allow me to rate it as high as the Lonesome Dove series starring Tommy Lee Jones and Robert Duvall. It is hard not to be bias. The actors here are quite good and the personality's of Gus and Woodrow can be seen as developing in this movie. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes the Lonesome Dove series. I think the costumes held true to the times. There are many well known and good actors in the film.
