WIRE BENDING FOCUS
Making Wire Jewelry is a very specific book. It details how, with diagrams and fairly simple instruction to make a certain type of shaped wire earrings, cufflinks, and chains, primarily coils. This book is great if you would like to stay within wire coiling. What I liked about it was that it was thorough and had a very focused style, such as the Egyptian-looking necklaces. The problem was that this book was more about a single type of bending. I had wanted to see/learn other types, as I had another book that described wire jewelry in a good amount, explaining coiling wire, making hearts, rings, at least one bangle, and closed or open (split) jump rings, etc. I had chosen to buy this book before checking the reviews, so I cannot fail the book. However, as I was looking for ... Making Wire Jewelry is a very specific book. I think that this is good for a reference book, though as a jewelry designer, I have found that researching/reading jewelry-making magazines and books to be quite a process and a necessity, so it wasn't a loss. The other book that I had referred to, I believe, was something in a bead book... This book may also be for more intermediate users as the coiling, at times, has design complexity. If you are buying this book, are a new jewelry designer and are going into wire sculpting, then buy either copper wire or silver-coated or other inexpensive metal. Copper may not not as good to work with permanently, though, as the more you bend it, the softer it becomes (and less hardened). Silver-colored copper or silver-plated wire is fairly inexpensive to practice with for doing the simple and complex patterns within this book.

This classic favorite is on a recommended book list on designer and instructor -- Connie Fox 's website of those that she recommends for wire artist 's and jewelry making. Learn how to make necklaces, bracelets, earrings, chains and more with simple wire. Included is the beautiful ancient Egyptian coiling technique. Color photos of finished pieces. Black and white line drawn instructions. instructions are easy to follow step by step. Some photos, look different than the product I turned out however, they were the same. I dislike the fact there were not enough color photos. Also instruction on the use of different wires, Niobium, etc. Thank you Barbara S.
