SLJ Gr 2-5-In their eighth epic adventure, George and Harold use the Purple Potty to travel to an alternate universe where teachers care, the library has books, and kids eat at a five-star gourmet cafeteria. Unfortunately they also encounter Evil George and Evil Harold, who transform good Mr. Krupp into Captain Blunderpants. The evil duo also steal the boys' pets, Crackers and Sulu, and hitch a ride back to George and Harold's world. They might destroy that world with Evil Sulu, "the world's biggest baddest bionic hamster," but are thwarted by the arthritic avengers Boxer Boy and Great-Granny Girdle and their geezer power. Part novel, part comic book, and part Flip-o-rama(tm) (add your own sound effects), this newest adventure will not disappoint the legions of Captain Underpants fans. The cartoon pictures almost tell the story, making it a boon for struggling readers. Maybe kids, like Pilkey, will be inspired to write their own comics, invent their own superheroes, poke fun at the absurdities they see, and not worry about a few (in Pilkey's case, deliberately) misspelled words. Libraries with the previous books will want to add this one.-Mary Jean Smith, Southside Elementary School, Lebanon, TN, The critics are CRAZY about UNDERPANTS! Best Books for the Reluctant Reader

My 10 year old son never liked to read. When we discovered the Captain Underpants series, all of that changed. These books have kept him entertained and held his attention. He giggles his head off. He was absolutely hooked! My son loves to read now. These books are funny, goofy, and really appeals to children. Highly recommend for reluctant readers!

  • Great Kid's Reading!!!

I can't believe it! My 9 yr old is reading and loving it! These books are great for boys, maybe a little gross for some girls. Anything that makes my son read without complaining is a good book. The only thing I don't like is that in the cartoon portions of the book, words are misspelled intentionally. I don't want my son to pick up bad spelling. When I asked him about the misspelled words, he said, aw, Mom it's supposed to be funny, I know how to spell. That said, buy these books for your child who doesn't like to read, you may be shocked to see them enjoying a book for a change.

  • A highly entertaining read for the young-minded.

My kids adore these books, you have a great selection. Thanks!
