About this product

Product Information

Developer Rare follows up their 1997 hit Diddy Kong Racing with another kart-based racer, this time starring the lovable Disney characters. As Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, or Daisy, you'll try to outsmart your opponents on 19 tracks spread across five circuits. Power-ups, shortcuts, and speed boosts can be found along the way, and up to four players can race at once on a split screen. Besides the Disney license, Mickey's Speedway USA further distinguishes itself by featuring over 50 different character phrases spoken during competition and an adventure mode that has you trying to rescue Pluto from those no-good Weasels.

    Amazing game!

Good for all ages. Poses an incredible challenge at the higher difficulties and when challenging the staff ghosts, but accessible to video game novices as well. The music is outstanding, and the graphics are the best of any kart racer on the the console. The unlockable character Ludwig is probably the most difficult character to play, but is incredibly rewarding once mastered. Endless replay value. Only drawback is the battle mode is rather weak. The voices can also grate after awhile. Luckily, you can turn them off in the options menu.

  • Disney's Mario Kart version

I bought it because it was Disney Characters, and was surprised to see exactly the same type of racing as Mario Kart - battles with Mickey mouse balloons instead of regular balloons, coin collecting, and little packages rather than diamond question mark surprise markers. In fact, it is so like Mario Kart that my kids lost interest after a few minutes, preferring to just play Mario Kart. Only my 3 year old still wants to play the Disney version. However, since Mario Kart is so pricey, it is a better deal to get Mickey's Speedway USA until you can afford the "real" Mario Kart.

  • A Super Mario Cart clone...

This game is almost identical to Super Mario Cart. Same style of racing. Same power-ups, although they have different names. It even has the same feel. You'll have no trouble transitioning from Super Mario Cart to Mickey's Speedway. I'm 37. I still enjoy playing Super Mario Cart. I didn't enjoy Micky's Speedway nearly as much. It's, quite predictably, full of Disney characters. It's challenging. Easy on the first few tracks, then progressively harder. It's just too cute, too sweet for my taste. Little tykes will probably like it much more than adults. It's not a bad game. I just don't like it as much as the original (Super Mario Cart).

  • Fun game!

Nintendo 64 obviously isn't the latest and greatest of video game systems. But for being what it is, it's fun and cute for kids especially. My four year old wants to constantly play it.

  • Good Game!!

This game for the Nintendo 64 and the Nintendo Game Boy is like Mario Kart mixed with elements from Disney. It is/was interesting how Nintendo and RareWare published this game despite the characters in the game being owned by/property of Disney.
