Wonderful Basic Book For Creative Doll Dressmaker
This is a great book. I most appreciate the doll shoe patterns, but there are enough basic patterns to design many outfits for many size dolls. I've read reviews complaining about the difficulty figuring out the book's layout and putting together the patterns, but if you take the time to read and study the book, it truly is not difficult. There are also complaints that each size does not fit every doll that size. Of course not. 16" dolls come in all sizes. Simply cut out the pattern on scrap fabric, pin or baste it, and try it on the doll. Make adjustments and then cut your adjusted pattern out of your fabric. If you like to sew and design your own doll clothes, it is a treasure trove of patterns. If you just want a pattern you can cut and sew to fit your doll without any adjustments, ... The first week, I was able to change a pattern and make an unusual sized shirt for my son's boy doll and I made a dress for my doll. This book has opened a whole world of possibilities for me. I saw a recommendation for this book on a website www.fashionera.com. I decided to buy because of the recommendation and because I wanted to learn how to make cloth dolls and dress them. Great title!
This is a wonderful book for the doll artist,or anyone who likes to sew and has children with dolls. It is easy to use, especialy if you want to design your own clothes. My favorite chapter is the one on shoes. It is very hard to find patterns for doll shoes.I also liked the knit and crochet patterns,and the accessories. This book has everything!I highly reccomend it!
