    Amazing!

This cookbook has so much helpful, interesting information along with marvelous recipes! And I just want to make everything in it! Their attention to detail makes the directions so clear you can't really go wrong. It's no wonder Julia Child and her co-authors had such a huge impact on American cooking.

  • Classic French Cooking by an American Grand Dame

True, this style of cooking now sounds a little dated by our modern perspective. Nonetheless what Julia Child wrote and taught about in her textbook of French Preparation remains at the same time utterly timeless. Carefully written in a style easy to follow, and confidence building. Every serious home cook needs to be acquainted with the principles and techniques espoused here - even if they choose not to cook this exact style. Know that there is also a second volume that makes frequent reference to this first volume.

  • A must have cook book for serious cooks!

"Mastering the Art of French Cooking" is a classic cook book, that introduced our country to the fine cooking of the French. I read the biography, "My Life in Paris" by Julia Child which detailed the writing of this cook book and just had to have it. As a gourmet hobby cook, I've got about 30 cookbooks and love to learn about cooking. It is truly a step by step book. Get the 40th Anniversary Edition, that was updated in 2001, so that the recipes are relevant to todays cooking tools, like a food processor. After 35 years of cooking, I recently made the best eggs ever! Since I am always watching my weight/health, and the recipes are usually with cream and butter, I make these recipes for dinner parties and special occasions.
