  • Fabulous but not really a pattern book

There are two books by this author. This is the book about history and technique. The other book is a pattern book. Photos: there are many black-and-white photos that are grainy but clear enough, if that makes sense. Their quality is a bit better than paper newspapers, but not as crisp as magazines or most websites. You can make out what you need to see. Photos show people, finished shawls (flat, so you can see the overall design), individual stitch patterns from the stitch library, and techniques for the sample shawl. I don’t recall seeing any line drawings or diagrams. History: the author describes history of the region, the shawls, and some individual knitters and their stories, some of which are uplifting and some heartbreaking. Techniques: the author includes clear descriptions ...
