Synopsis
Shel Silverstein, the New York Times bestselling author of The Giving Tree , A Light in the Attic , Falling Up , and Every Thing On It, has created a poetry collection that is outrageously funny and deeply profound. Come in...for where the sidewalk ends, Shel Silverstein's world begins. This special edition contains 12 extra poems. You'll meet a boy who turns into a TV set, and a girl who eats a whale. The Unicorn and the Bloath live there, and so does Sarah Cynthia Sylvia Stout who will not take the garbage out. It is a place where you wash your shadow and plant diamond gardens, a place where shoes fly, sisters are auctioned off, and crocodiles go to the dentist. Shel Silverstein's masterful collection of poems and drawings stretches the bounds of imagination and will be cherished by readers of all ages. This is a collection that belongs on everyone's bookshelf. Makes a great gift for special occasions such as holidays, birthdays, and graduation. A Classic!

Not only delightful, it is a lesson in relativity, with its whimsical points of view and drawings. It makes us laugh! My 5 year old grandson loves to play with rhymes, and this is fertile ground for exploration.

    Limited description

Book arrived with no cover. I was planning in gifting the book. Disappointed. Though the description noted not the picture of the actual book I feel slightly mislead. Description could Gabe notes no cover or the possibility of no cover.

  • "Where the Sidewalk Ends" carries you back to childhood.

Excellent condition... I would have judged it "very" good. Poems are entertaining to read to children and increase their listening vocabulary. Black and white drawings go along with the verbal entertainment. Even adults get a chuckle out of this book.

  • Fun book for young children

This was my older son's favorite book when he was in elementary school. He borrowed & renewed it if from the school library so often I bought the book so he'd have his own copy. Now that he has a son I wanted to give him the book his daddy loved so much. Shel Sillverstein has passed away but he left a wonderful legacy of amusing, clever poems and drawings for kids (and their parents) to enjoy.

  • Beloved book!

This poetry book is a classic and will be loved by young readers for a long long time. It's still one of my favorite books to read. It's easy to read a poem or two to my first grader.
