Created by mother and teacher Julie Aigner-Clark, the BABY EINSTEIN educational programs bring a healthy dose of culture to the world of parenting and child rearing. BABY BACH introduces children to the delightful compositions of Johann Sebastian Bach, proven to promote a positive effect on physical health and intelligence. Images of colorful toys and known objects aid in the audio presentation of child-friendly musical arrangements and sounds. The program is designed for infants between the ages of approximately one and 36 months. BABY NEWTON uses video and music to teach children from one year and up about shapes, the recognition of which are essential to a child's ability to see patterns and develop critical cognitive functions. BABY SHAKESPEARE teaches babies the basic sounds and rhythms of classical poetry and nature. Twelve common words are reinforced through the video and the accompanying BABY SHAKESPEARE book. Bard, the linguistic dragon host of this video, introduces poems, using puppet shows and classical music. LANGUAGE NURSERY helps babies understand the concept behind foreign languages, using animated visuals and pleasant sounds to stimulate infants between the ages of approximately one and 18 months.     Go with the full collection

    I like the Baby Einstein shows. It's nice to pop in a video if I need to do some chores, and not have to worry about content or commercials (I don't have TV at my house, only DVDs and videos). If you are going to get the videos, though, I'd recommend going with the new collection of 26 DVDs, rather than buying them individually, as you will save a lot just buying the whole set at once. That is why I give this produce a "Good" rating, rather than an "Excellent". It's about cost, folks, not the quality of the product. If you have never seen the shows, you should be able to rent them at your local video store.

    Television and videos not good for children under 2

    The name "Baby Einstein" can trick parents into believing it's okay or even good for their babies to watch it, but the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends no television AT ALL to children under 2 because so many studies have proven its harmful effects on children. Studies have shown that: - for every hour of television a baby watches a day, their chances of acquiring an attention deficit disorder increases by 10%. - among babies ages 8 months to 16 months, every hour spent daily watching programs such as 'Brainy Baby' or 'Baby Einstein' translated into six to eight fewer words in their vocabularies as compared with other children their age." - brain wave activity in babies is slower when watching television than when sleeping. ...

    Baby Einstein 4-Pack - Vol. 1 (2003, DVD)

    I bought it because I lost my child's favorite Baby Einstein movie - Baby Bach. It has been discontinued so I knew I could find it on EBay. The only problem is that since it's part of a boxset, it's not exactly the same as my original copy. There's no option to change the language, etc... My son's favorite part is the song and in the new copy, the song is different and a man sings it instead of a woman. Other than that, it was a great buy. I paid nine dollars for four movies when one usually costs 15.

    Really liked the poetry DVD the best. My grandson is 13 months and so I think some of the other tapes are too simple for him to be very interested.
