    Excellent dvd! Made me laugh and cry.

    I love this movie and also the book. The characters were described so well. Very true to life feelings about love, death, loss, and insecurities. I have to say that the book was better, probably because there was more room to expand the characters’ storylines. The scenery of Ireland was gorgeous.

    Read the book and skip the movie!

    You don't get a good feel for the characters. It really doesn't acknowledge the ties between Benny and Eve. It makes Nan much more of a friend than she really was. Jumps around too much. Glad I read the book first. Big fan of Binchy's book Circle of Friends but not if this movie.

    Circle of Friends (1998, DVD)

    I had almost finished reading Maeve Binchy's Circle of Friends and was enjoying the book so much that I wanted to see how well the movie told the story. Neither the DVD or the video was available for rent or purchase at my local movie rental stores so I turned to eBay to find it. I liked the movie although it did vary from the book in parts. Having read the book first gave me greater insight into the characters. I especially liked Minnie Driver. Also, I really like Colin Firth and it was a surprise to me to find that he also played in the movie. However, he played the part of a cad in this one. Overall, I enjoyed the movie and would recommend it to others.

    Looking forward to seeing this movie!

    I'll be absolutely truthful. I have not yet watched Circle of Friends. However, it is based on a book written by Maeve Binchy and the character development in her books is simply wonderful. I have watched movies based on some of her other books, and they were very good. I expect no less from Circle of Friends!. Barbara

    Friends grow up and grow apart

    I'm so glad I was finally able to find a copy of this on DVD. This movie is one of my favorites, because of the excellent, lively characters and the beautiful setting. You get both the country and the city, and there's a lot of interpersonal drama between the characters.
