  • The best zoom i've ever had

Hi the nikon 70-300 mm is a fantastic zoom, I was going to buy a sigma 70-200 f2.8 but I find I don't need the extra two stops with this lens having the nikon vr system built in, I can get sharp photos at a 30th with the lensd voomed out to 300 where I would normally need to use at least 125th if not 200th, so if you have a nikon digital or one of the later nikon af film cameras then this as to be the lens to go for.

  • An Excellent Product

excellent quality lens, I previously had a Sigma 70-300 (not VR type) which had done me well but does not come close to this lens from Nikon, the speed & accuracy of the focusing is very good and the image quality is very good. The big plus point for this lens though is the Vibration Reduction, it really does make a difference on hand held shots. I really wish I had upgraded to this lens much earlier.

  • Well recommended

Previously used the Nikon 55-200 lens on my D7100, and was not particularly impressed. This lens is in a different ball park. Sharp, focuses quite quickly, great for portraits at short zoom levels. The next step up means going into silly money, so for me this fits the bill perfectly. Pleasing bokeh effects. It's a little heavy, but balances quite well on my D7100. Got it at a great price from an eBay dealer.

  • Very happy to have saved so much money on such a great lens.

As a professional I'm expected to pay £1500 + for an f2.8 lens of this type, which I have and they are great. However, I am now a convert to this type of lenses. This latest addition to my arsenal is without doubt a GEM. No discernable image difference speed of operation is 9/10 will you have to reserve 1 for improvements unless 11/10 starts to be acceptable. I would recommend this to anyone.

  • I would buy the 55-300 its cheaper and thsi gives little advantage.

All around good lens with very useful focal range. It does struggle with focus when a large depth of field and I have noticed its quite noisy. Even more so than the 15 year old lens it replaced. Comparing it to my older lens. It doesnt work as well but takes clearer pictures.
