About this product

Product Information

Felting--or boiling a knit item so it shrinks and the fibers mesh together--yields amazingly durable, beautiful pieces with unusual textures. It's the perfect technique for beginners because many mistakes just disappear during the washing process. With this new entry in the popular Vogue: Knitting on the Go series, knitters can get in on this increasingly popular technique and make more than 20 stylish projects. An introduction explains all the knitting basics and felting fundamentals, from yarn selection to blocking and finishing the final product, and there's a wide variety of great things to create. Knit a flower clutch bag, baby blanket, pillows, a snake toy, beret, tea cozy, slippers, scarves, multicolored mittens, and more.

  • Felting has come a long way since this book was written, Save your money.

I purchased this book because of the cover photo of an unusual tea cozy. Unfortunately this item is the only one in the book that was even worth a look-see. This is a book of fundamentals, and felting has come a long way since 2005. There are many, many other publications (and free information on the Internet) that deal not just with this level of felting, but more progressive, innovative, and fun ways to felt and make interesting crafts. I was surprised at the size of the book; a mere 5.5 inches by 7.25 inches, but I guess that is where they get the on the go in the title. You can certain carry this in your jacket pocket. If you are a beginner, you might like this book, but I am not, so I did not care much for it.

  • The Little Book on Felting that Could

I decided to add to my own personal library of fibercrafts as I often do, toggling between what looks good at the bookstore, what is reviewed on Amazon, and what is almost a necessity since I have ripped apart Mom's career dress "castoffs" long ago when fiber/material and the potential to create first entered my young life. I was hooked on dying wool when still in junior high (my Native American grandmother on father's side dressed to the nines and dyed wool, she and my aunt had "home jobs" in the 40's and 50's sewing for the likes of Vogue and essentially churned out Ginny Doll dresses and accessories. I come from a line, therefore, of women who had their hands on a machine or in a dyebath. "You are going to Design School" said my young mother when I appeared to not have any goals or ...

  • Vogue knitting Felting

This is my favorite of all my felting books. It has the most useful, practical projects presented in easy to understand language. I am pretty new at felting and this book takes the fear out of it.
