Darren Hayes scores a hit the second time around.
Darren's first disc, "Spin", was picked up by Colombia Records and enjoyed some small success. The second release, "The Tension and the Spark", wasn't picked up by any company state-side, due to its "sexually ambiguous lyrics". I had to import a copy from China, and it was worth the money and the wait. Darren has one of the most beautiful voices in music today, and his music is different and introspective, and often critical at the same time ("Popular"). The tracks on "Tension and the Spark" are somewhat closer to his work with Savage Garden than "Spin" was, but they give off the sense that Darren has settled with his past and is just looking forward to the future and everything that will come with it.Darren's first disc, "Spin", was picked up by Colombia Records and enjoyed some small success. Darren Gets Deep
Having enjoyed Darren's first solo CD so much, I was curious to hear this import second release. Although not as many song hooks, it's nicely done. Songs are less pop-oriented and more introspective. It makes me anxious to hear what his third release will be. Lyrics included. No glam photos. Check it out.

Darren is pure genius. Everything that comes out of him is magic. I received this CD from a friend and couldn't stop listening to it! Now I need to buy the CD again. Beware - Darren is addicting. It doesn't matter if you liked or disliked Savage Garden, if you're old or young, male or female - you will love his music.
