  • A bible of Jewish Cooking!

I have a huge collection of cookbooks. There are just a couple that come off the shelf regularly - the Joy of Cooking, and The Book of Jewish Food. Claudia Roden includes much on the history and culture of Jewish communities throughout the world, paying as much attention to the food of the Sephardic Jews, as the Ashkenazi, something overlooked by many books of Jewish cooking. Recipes are generally easy to follow and accessible to most home cooks. Moreover, it has allowed me to reproduce much of what come out of both my grandmothers' kitchens. My first copy became so dog-earred and tattered, I got another copy. This book was important enough in my kitchen, I got a copy for both of my sisters, and each of their children

  • Enjoying the book

  • excellent food + culture book

This book offers a great mixture of recepies and history snippets. Love it!.. My wife bought this book from the store and soon ordered two more copies online as gifts for friends and family, and she is not even Jewish (btw, never done that with any other book). Why? I don't know why. Great book, that's why.
