Great, "go-to" snare drum
I've been collecting snare drums for over 10 years. As I already had 2 aluminum shell snare drums in my arsenal, I was at first hesitant in grabbing this one until I heard it first hand, at a show. The secret is in the thin, 1mm shell. (most metal shell snare drums are 2-3mm thick) This baby breathes with each back beat! Whether cranked up high, or tuned mid, even low, it delivers a solid, very crisp punch when struck in the sweet spot of the head on ballads and mid tempo tunes. Throw a little rim shot into your back beat, for more aggressive grooves, and you will turn your guitar player's head! It sounds like a completely different drum, resonating some awesome overtones and pop, reminiscent of its more expensive, bell brass competitors. Too much overtone? A tiny piece of moon-gel or ...
