About this product

Product Information

In August of 1914, the British ship Endurance set sail for the South Atlantic. In October, 1915, still half a continent away from its intended base, the ship was trapped, then crushed in the ice. For five months, Sir Ernest Shackleton and his men, drifting on ice packs, were castaways in one of the most savage regions of the world.

  • A Captivating, True Story for 13+ Year Old Readers

A thorough and captivating documentation of true men's fight for survival. The author weaves the story through the various accounts given by Shackleton and his men, giving one a full, overall acquaintance of those who took this journey. Having read it twice, I would recommend this for readers no younger than thirteen, as it is at times a bit graphic, and has the inclusion, sadly, of some swearing. Nevertheless, the book is very informative and hard to put down once you've started, filling you with a wonderful sense of inspiration and amazement as you watch what these men did to see each other through.
