    Fantastic Book

I bought this book for my 11 year old grandson for Christmas this year. When I received it, I decided to read it and I was very impressed with the story and the illustrations in this book. An absolutely beautiful book

  • Way above and beyond any average "teen" read...

Hugo Cabret gloriously transcends any genre, even defying it's categorization as a "novel" to become a true artwork, compelling to all age groups. The novel IS intended for teens and I MUST say that I bring an adult's opinion and eye to this story. This unique book seamlessly blends pencil drawings and sparse narrative while effortlessly taking the reader on a fascinating journey into the world of an amazing young 16 year old boy in transition. The plot never lags, moving steadily forward, and ever drawing the reader deep into it's amazing layers. The characters (especially Hugo) are extremely real and as the story moves forward, the readers' curiosity and feelings about each person continue to grow. I can most definitely say that I found not one single flaw in this book and consider it ...

  • Great book for boys and girls, fabulous illustrations

Well-written, fabulous illustrations, a book to be enjoyed by children and adults. This is the perfect "read a chapter to your child for bedtime" book. Don't be daunted by the number of pages because half of them are illustrations that move the story right along. The cool part is that one of the main characters actually existed and his part of the story is true. Reading level for your average 4th grade reader and above, but if you read it to them first, they will come back and read it on their own. My 9 and 4 year old grandchildren love this book. The older one is now reading it to his brother at night, after his mom read it to them this summer. This book has important boy and girl characters, so I would recommend it for both boys and girls. The plot has some sad issues, but it ...

  • Inspired my son to enjoy reading

My 10 year old son loves this book. He isn't a big reader but something about this book got his attention. He started it in class last year and has checked it out twice from the library since then. It has done a wonderful job at getting him to enjoy reading instead of just looking at it as homework. He isn't a confident reader so the fact that he loves this book and it has helped him to build his confidence is wonderful. He is now reading the Gregor the underhanded series.

  • Amazing book! Great for ages 8 and up.

This book was wonderful. The book is over 500 pages don't let that scare you 200 are beautiful pages of art done in pencil. Just amazing. The art really helps tell the story like you are watching a movie with subtitles! The book is an adventure. I was shocked how much my son who just turned 9 LOVED it!! I bought the book because I saw it on the Today show and thought it looked interesting. I really thought this would be a book we would read over the summer. My 9 year old son read it 3 days! He did not want to put it down!
