    A Replacement that was Well Worth the Gamble & Cost

    I needed a replacement for the same printer that I've owned and used in my shop since the early 1990's. Finding this replacement at a reasonable price that I felt was worth the gamble paid off for me. I still have problems with heavier papers feeding through correctly, but I have my automatic feed of standard weight paper back again, and I'm thrilled. With the time I'm saving by not having to hand-feed each piece of paper, this replacement printer more than pays for itself. On another note, the printer was beautifully clean on the exterior, with a bit of dust on the interior. Please note that toner cartridge doesn't come with it, but that wasn't a problem for my situation. It was packed well and arrived in perfect condition. I'm extremely happy.

    HP LaserJet 1100 Printer

    This is a good printer for home or a small business that does not require lots of space. This printer is always dependable and reliable. Printing quality is good with a fresh toner cartridge kept in a dry location. You might get an occassional multi feed of sheets because of the printers configuration but I think that this is due to high humidity levels at various times that makes the pages stick together. I currently own 4 printers at home (2 are being used in separate rooms and 2 are kept as spares in case of repairs). My employer has approximately 20 of these units around the office and after 10-12 years, they are still working. I have purchased each of my printers on Ebay with less than 3,000 pages printed (anything more you are risking the chance that the most important part, ...

    HP 1100 printer is hard to beat for the price.....

    Great product for the price. I have 3 in use in my business. A friend of mine needed an inexpensive black and white priter that printed faster than a ink jet. Ordered it for him and he is totally happy. In the long run, ink cartridges are less expensive than the color cartriges in ink jets. If you purchase on make sure the HP cable comes with it. The cable connects the printer to a parallel printer port. If your computer doesn't have a parallel port you can either by a PCI card or a parallel to USB cable converter. Also, the earlier 1100's had a problem where multiple paper would feed at once. If you have this problem HP offer a free simple to install fix for it. Don't even have to open the printer to install it. All in all, a great buy for the right price.

    Inexpensive with a fair amount of expansion possibilities & cheap toner

    It's a fairly good printer that can do all the basic printing stuff. It has a memory expansion port if one needs to do more complex printing. It also has an option scanner which can make this unit a rather affordable all in one and the scanner can operate independent of the computer. There is also external interface cards to allow USB as well as networking capabilities. Toner is fairly inexpensive for this unit at 18 to 25 dollars or you can use the HP OEM toner which is quite a bit more expensive. All in all it is a very good unit if you can get it at a good price.

    HP 1100 LaserJet printer

    The HP 1100 is a good solid monochrome Volkswagen Beetle of a laser printer that occupies a small footprint on the desk and can be had for a rather modest price. It helps if one is mechanically inclined when buying any used printer, but repair manuals and parts for all older HP products are readily available, and there are good user group resources to help you through any snags.In my particular case my $12 printer came without a toner cartridge or paper supports, so make sure when you buy that the paper supports come with the printer. You'll need them. Parts are readily available from the manufacturer but can be expensive, so it pays to shop around or buy a spare printer for parts.
