About this product

Product Information

If you’re looking to expand the range of your cameras and your photography options, consider the Nikon PC-E NIKKOR 28-millimeter lens. Whether you’re an amateur or a professional, PC-E NIKKOR lenses can meet your classic and digital photo needs. This 28-millimeter Nikon lens gives you the manual focus required to achieve perfect content whether you’re shooting at home, in nature, or in an urban environment. This equipment measures approximately 3.2 inches by 4.3 inches and weighs about 25.7 ounces. The focal length is 28 millimeters, which allows for a wide perspective. The minimum aperture is f/32 and the maximum is f/3.5. You can move from min to the max in half-f-stop increments. The turn is smooth and easy, and you can feel and hear the click as it moves into a new position. The maximum angle of view in the DX-format is 61 degrees, and in the FX-format, it’s 84 degrees. This Nikon lens is suitable for both DSLR and SLR cameras. In addition to DX and FX, it is compatible with 35-millimeter film and FX in DX crop mode. This is a tilt-shift lens that features an ultra-wide angle in addition to tilt and shift. That makes it well suited to landscapes, cityscapes, interior and exterior architecture, and so forth. The three perspectives, tilt, shift, and rotation, are fully usable at all angles. This gives you great control not only over perspective but also focus and depth of field. The unit is built to last as well and should hold up no matter how adventurous your shoots are. This combination lets you quickly adjust the focal plane regardless of your camera's position. You can bring an entire landscape into view, focus on a particular subject, or offset anomalies. The PC-E NIKKOR technology helps ensure great image quality at all times as well. The glass is specifically tailored to reproduce color and sharpness in a precise manner regardless of environmental factors. The Nano Crystal Coat that these lenses have is an anti-reflective coating developed by Nikon. The advantage of this crystal coat is that it avoids practically all internal reflections regardless of the wavelength. This unit also features ED or extra-low dispersion glass. In combination with conventional optical glass, ED helps correct chromatic aberrations common to photography. It also features aspherical elements, which is the use of non-spherical surfaces to avoid certain kinds of aberration. One final feature worth noting is the rear focusing system. By moving only the rear group during the process, this system design allows for faster focusing and a shorter lens length. You’ll get certain accessories in addition to the Nikon PC-E NIKKOR 28mm f3.5 camera lens itself. Along with an owner’s manual and a quick start guide, these accessories include an HB-41 bayonet hood and a CL-1120 flexible pouch. This soft pouch with drawstring closure will protect your lenses when they are not in use. The hood helps to eliminate nonessential light in order to achieve more saturated photos.

    Built like a tank

Back in the days of film cameras, Nikon originated many features, such as providing a removable pentaprism so the camera could also function as a waist level instrument. Their shift lenses (moving the axis of the lens) simulated the rise and fall of a view camera and were probably the first of their type for 35mm cameras. This multicoated lens is one of the latest variants of these lenses and is a solid metal lens built for many years of service. The controls are positive and have the feel of a Rolls Royce. I have only made some test images but they are clear and bright, the controls function with no backlash, click stops are all positive. The lens has no electronic connections to the camera and the aperture (f-stop) is set manually. However, on this lens a pre-set device is provided. Take ...

  • This is a must lens for any pro or semi-pro working with architecture.

This is an older Nikon Perspective Control lens. But as many other older professional Nikon lenses this lens is a bargain for the its price/performance. It is built like a tank just like all older Nikon professional lenses. The quality of craftsmanship is outstanding. Modern plastic "made in china" products cannot come close. The images are sharp throughout the aperture range even wide open. Speaking of wide open, the aperture of f/3.5 is plenty wide for a shift lens like this. This is a fully manual lens, which is not an issue for what this lens is designed for. Professional architecture and real estate photographers use manual setting on camera for best results most of the time anyway. With the development of the digital some may think that the need for this lens ...

  • When you need one, nothing else will do as well.

I have seen examples of keystoning images corrected in Photoshop. Sometimes they look good, but it involves a lot of interpolation which degrades the sharpness of the image. You also generally lose some of the image near the edges of the frame --- just what and how much is hard to judge before hand. If you photograph tall objects and don't want the keystoning effect, you really need a shift-lens. For years I used the 35mm Nikkor PC and it worked very well. Because it worked so well, I saved up until I could afford the more expensive 28mm. Images have been very sharp with lots of contrast on my D700. Yes, it may take longer to make the image. But not nearly as long as it takes to try to correct it in Photoshop later and the resulting image prints much better than a Photoshoped ...

  • Sometimes the best deal is not the cheapest

Have wanted a 28mm PC lens for a number of years, to go with the 35mm PC I have used since college. Lens arrived well packed, and virtually mint condition. Immediately stuck it on my D850, and started shooting. Very, very sharp. Moreso than any of my G series zooms. But, the greatest feature is that the full coverage allows much greater shift than my 35mm. This lens will be in my bag from now on, without exception.

  • Awesome product! very good value, good price for an excellent acquisition

I bought this lens in order to improve my architectural photography, i.e. to correct perspective and try to get a very good lens for a very good price I like the quality of the lens, very good construction. Due to the very high prices of the digital tilt/shift lenses I have decided to buy the Nikon 28 mm pc for its high quality.
