Fantasy meets science fiction in this visually spectacular tale of valiant Prince Colwyn (Ken Marshall) and Lyssa (Lysette Anthony), his young bride-to-be, who dwell in the mythical kingdom of Krull. During their wedding ceremony the Beast, a monstrous dark force of evil who threatens to rule their world, kidnaps the princess and hides her in his dark and forboding fortress. In order to save his prisoner bride and his kingdom from the evil powers of the Beast, Colwyn embarks on a heroic quest to find her. In order to accomplish this, though, he must first get his hands on the glaive, a magical weapon that is his only hope for slaying his fearsome enemy. With the help of an elderly leader and a band of magicians and rogues (including Liam Neeson), Colwyn sets out on an eye-opening journey throughout his kingdom, where evil slayers and mythical creatures under the possession of the evil Beast oppose him at every turn. Ultimately, Colwyn uncovers the mysterious whereabouts of the Dark Fortress and must battle the dark and powerful forces of the Beast to rescue his loving bride and save his kingdom from the clutches of the evil being. This highly entertaining fantasy adventure features state-of-the-art animation and visually stunning special effects that combine to create a dreamy and magical kingdom reminiscent of the legendary fantasy worlds of STAR WARS, EXCALIBUR, and WILLOW.

    classic fairy tale fantasy fused with sci fi elements.

    loved this movie when it came out, though it was kind of an obscure cult sleeper. I purchased it because of a great price, sweet digital copy included and simply for nostalgia. Love the classic fairy tale love story and the classic uber powerful villian. What is intersesting is the infused sci fi elements. Also, liam neeson was, is and always will be one of the most intense and versatile actors out there. It is true this movie could be considered "b" status by some, as well as not having massive special effects budgets of star wars, star trek, or other blockbusters of that era...it is still a classic tale of good v evil. For sci fi/ fantasy fans, or all liam neeson fans, this is a definate buy! :-)

    Krull

    A really fun 80s sci-fi/fantasy adventure. This movie moves at a consistently excellent pace, delivering good production values with the exterior and interior sets of the Black Fortress, beautiful cinematography, and a number of exciting action sequences. The battle scenes are surprisingly well choreographed, and are pure swashbuckling fun. The action and adventure is given a great boost from composer James Horner's excellent score. I highly recommend this movie to anyone searching for a good fantasy title from the 80s. I would put Krull right up there with Ladyhawke, Willow, and the Dark Crystal.

    Krull (DVD) is still an entertaining "movie" despite it's age.

    This is one of the 80's movies my kids & I watched. It's still an entertaining & amusing storyline after all these years.

    i love this old movie!!!!

    i remeber when i was a kid i saw this in the movie theater. i looked for it for a very long time & couldn't find it. low in behold there it was on ebay i bought it right away & now i can watch it over & over again!!! rosiemoe
