When Tom Winston's (Cary Grant) estranged wife dies in a sudden accident, he's left alone to raise their three children. Problem is, Elizabeth, David and Robert Winston haven't seen hide nor hair of their father in ages, and they aren't about to let him play the perfect parent now. Tom has to win his bratty brood's respect first. Along comes Cinzia Zaccardi (Sophia Loren), a lovely long-legged lady who's willing to do anything to escape her strict father. So, she poses as a maid and goes to work for Tom as a live-in nanny. Before they know it, Tom, Cinzia and the kids will be living as one big, crazy family.

Houseboat, romance love and fun !
Houseboat is a classic ! A wonderful go to movie again and again! I love Sophia Loren and Cary Grant. And to think as they dance, he's really in love with her! Of course, she married her lifelong husband ! Its a funny, romantic movie! And the reason soundtracks were invented. Sam Cook singing the "Houseboat" song "Almost In Your Arms" ! (Youtube has "Houseboat" version without words being spoken in it) ! I highly recommend this movie!Houseboat is a classic ! A wonderful go to movie again and again! This is a nice old classic movie with Carey Grant as Tom Winston, a Washington DC low level diplomat. His estranged wife is killed in an auto wreck and suddenly he has to assume the role of Daddy. His three kids have ostensibly grown up with out him and he is really in a spot. His apartment is what was referred to back then as somewhat of a bachelor pad, and not suited for children. He needs help! The kids are out of control, and are real brats. They readily use his inexperienced demeanor against him. Cinzia Zaccardi (Sophia Loren) is the beautiful daughter of an Italian Symphony Conductor. He is very strict and she is dying to break away and have some fun. She introduces herself as a maid to help Winston with the kids. She is very beautiful and is attracted to Winston. He decides to take ... Tom meets a rich girl and is moving in the society circle. Cinzia has fallen in love with him, but he doesn't know. Tom becomes close with his children, and sees that they are also very to Cinzia. In typical old movie style Tom and Cinzia fall in love and are married.

This film was a fun loving family kind of movie. The children were adorable. Sophia Loren came from a rich Italian family. She ended up being a maid for Cary Grants children. The fell in love and married. I think the film was wonderful.
