I'm somewhat of a camera "nut" thanks to Ebay. I buy, I sell, I buy, I sell. I've owned hundreds of cameras and countless more lenses, and yet this little gem remains one of my favorites. The electronic viewfinder eliminates the problem lcd panels create in bright sunlight, the L lens with it's large range is truly a great lens, and 8 megapixels is more than adequate. I've bought two of these cameras in the past month...both complete with the original box and all accessories, for less than $100 each! The camera / lens lacks image stabilization and the electronics don't have the high ISO abilities of the newest cameras but other than that this is a great little camera and truly one of the best bargains I've found.I'm somewhat of a camera "nut" thanks to Ebay. What I liked most about this camera was the compound lens system and the opportunities it represented for getting the most out of a picture. As well there is the ability to use interchangeable lenses and filters, which may extend the useful range of opportunities in taking pictures over a wide spectrum of conditions. This camera for a beginner user is all I could ask for and more. I did my research on a number of professional sites and downloaded a specific user manual, some 240 pages from a professional photographer's online school, to learn more of what the mfg. left off. So this is a work in progress operation. I own three light cameras and have worked in the past from the simple box camera to, to a Rolex, Leica, Polaroid and Kodak. My purpose for buying this camera is the abilities to do macro work, e.g. food photography, insects, flowers. Of course 80% of photography for me is getting the picture done right, before taking the shot. The other 20% is what you do with the image after wards. And there lies the other challenge with digital photography...learning to use the software that the computer may already have and what you may buy, so you can do and learn more. For my having a Mac G4 and a Mac mini, makes this task a bit easier, yet there is so much more to learn. I am being patient with myself in this steep learning process. I take it one step-at-a-time. What does the computer manual say, what does the camera manual say and then explore that concept. Todate I have a few pictures of: cakes, ice sickles, snow patterns, urban wild life, budding leaves from bushes, clouds, rocks, and fabric patterns. The lens I bought from ebay merchants are the 10X, 4X, 2X and 1X Macro lens set; then the polarizing, UV and diffusion filter sets. Still learning to use those systems. There is a lot more camera features and opportunities here that I expected I will learn within the next 6 months. The least important feature for me is that it was over 8 megapixel sized. All of my photos so far with this camera are good. I am pleased with the investments made. All of my shots so far have been in the auto mode. Still staying with the basics. When I master the basics of this camera then I will choose another option and so forth. It can be daunting task with so much to do, so rather than frustrate myself by moving too quickly I just think it is far easier to do it in increments. I will soon being enrolling in a digital photography course or two, as well. This camera is a keeper and I will be investing in another advanced digital camera within a year. I have read many reviews. The nay sayers are those who do not want to take the time and effort to learn things systematically. When a professional photographer lays out the prints between this camera and a $4K professional digital Leica and asks other professionals to distinguish the photos of the same subject matter, and few are able to, well that tells a story... I could not.

+ great pictures when is enought light + equipment + great lens + high resolution display + same battery and CF card as for 40D and so.. - almost unusable indoor without using flash - vignetting with aperture higher than f5,6 - high noise with ISO 400 Very good compact camera for the ebay price.
