Black Flag indeed.......
The First 4 years: Well it's all well known history by now. However, I must state that being born and raised in the South Bay during that time I can tell you that Black Flag was huge influence in the community. Waking up to go surf and seeing the flyers on every pole. The excitement of aticipation of the gig and who you were going with, bla bla, bla.... The band transformed every 18 months regardless of singer, and they never sold their soul to be poular. Yeah, Black Flag was the real deal alright. This album collects all their early singles and the first 3 singers as well; killer stuff. Try this first before buying Damaged or whatever album your thinking about. A True Punk Classic
Im a huge Black Flag fan. The First Four Years has always been a favorite of mine because their early stuff is the best. Its basically a collection of all the early EPs featuring their previous 3 lead singers before Henry Rollins stepped in. "Nervous Breakdown", "Jealous Again", "Six Pack", and the "Louie Louie" eps are all featured on this album. I had it on cassette for years, but I played it so much it started to sound like crap. So Im very happy to have it on CD. CD is in perfect condition and plays fine. If You love real punk rock, get this CD.Im a huge Black Flag fan. I straight didn't like music until I heard Black Flag. They are fully responsible for turning me into a punk before age 10. Insane early eighties hardcore, profane lyrics, and brutal vocals. Any fan of the Henry Rollins era Black Flag, who has never heard pre Henry Black Flag NEEDS THIS ALBUM. Easily one of the most influential punk records of all time.
