About this product

Product Information

Using Topographic Maps to Find Deer Topographic maps and aerial photos can lead you right to the biggest bucks you've ever seen. You just have to know how to use them. Brad Herndon takes the mystery out of finding deer with maps. Through years of dedicated hunting and careful study of maps and photos, Herndon has perfected the use of maps to find the routes deer travel. And once you know where the deer will be headed you can establish the perfect ambush site. Maps are often the forgotten link in scouting prime deer habitat. Yet because they show you all the hills, gullies, rivers and ridges, you can learn the lay of the land without walking mile after unproductive mile. Maps won't eliminate the need to get in the woods, but they will tell the best places to start your search for the buck of your dreams. Herndon also shows hunters how to use the latest Internet and computer technology to personalize any map. Mark your stand locations, the locations of deer sign, even note the best possible wind direction to make your hunt a success. If you hunt deer, let Mapping Trophy Bucks lead you right to where the big boys hide. The rest is up to you.

  • Mapping Trophy Bucks by Brad Herndon (2003)

This book was recomended in an article from Bohunter Magazine. The author uses actual hunt examples to intoduce each new chapter, and he has obviously taken some good trophies with these methods. Of particular note is how the author stresses the impotance of using the wind properly. He explains how you can have the perfect location, but if you don't follow his reccomendation about wind use you will never connect. Ther are good color photos, a setup from an actual map and a drawn version for each type of location to use. I would have prefered more maps from actual setups across all types of habitat throughout the country, but the author still gets his point accross and possibly is just trying to aviod confusion. Some sections I had to take notes on to be sure I didn't miss details. Don't ...

  • Essential Information for Midwestern Whitetail Hunters!

Local Southern Indiana author with lots of knowledge on how to use publicly available data to locate the big 'uns. Brad Herndon leaves the reader with no doubt about the terrain features and techniques for the deer hunter to employ to their advantage. I live in the author's locale, and was introduced to this book by a friend who also believes in Mr. Herndon's methods, as we hunt in the hardwood hills just like the author. I bought the book here because I was able to purchase and have it delivered to my door step for 50% of the retail price. GET THIS BOOK!!!

  • Mapping Trophy Bucks by Brad Herndon

I know the author personly, and know that he and his wife consistantly harvest big bucks. Also he is a great outdoors photographer and writer. His photos and articles have been published in several of the major outdoor magazines. I think this book will help me to become a better hunter. I belive it will help me to figure out where the bigger bucks will be. I harvest deer yearly but have never taken a true trophy buck, I belive this book will help me do that.

  • Mapping trophy whitetails

As a western hunter and never hunted white tails , this book tells all and more. I would have to say the best book to be a successful whitetail hunter.
