        Very useful

        I initially bought this to set the cutter height on a shaper for doing tenons. I also realized that it can be used to do the same for a table saw blade. However, once it arrived, I realized that it is also the perfect guide for setting the height and distance from the fence for shaper cutters with complex profiles. It was a little hard to open the battery compartment, but you just have to know where it is and pull. You can do most everything this tool does with other tools, but this is much quicker, and it is no doubt more accurate as well.

        Function of this tool is OK, but quality is a bit less than I have come to expect from Wixey

        Overall, pretty good tool, however, the base magnets are small and very weak. I modified mine with 1" diameter magnets and it works far better. I own quite a few Wixey read outs and I found this particular tool of lesser quality than the others. The function is fine, but as an Mechanical Engineer, I can't help modifying tools to suit my applications. (i.e. I machined a brass contact point, and the magnets) Myother Wixey read outs are great and have served me very well for years. Highly recommend the table saw readout, outstanding for accurate setups.

        Simple, Accurate, Versatile and Above all Affordable. Does not get better then this. Can be used for setting up many different woodworking machines

        The base is too small and not sufficiently flat. Item works on an iron bed but does not sit well on a bed of different material. It will sit in a drawer and gather dust.
