    • Top favourable review

I have total confidence when clipping in and when climbing in heavy traffic.

I have these on 4 Road Bikes now. I went looking for this last pair because I settled for another brand on my Gravel Bike and no matter how often I adjust that pair, they sometimes still don't release consistently. The Exustar pedals on my other bikes are consistent and in thousands of miles, have required little maintenance. The Exustar pedals have always released easily, even with stones in in them. I've never had one release when pulling up while climbing.

      Avoid

I have had nothing but trouble with these pedals. From the beginning they were rough in spinning. Never exactly spinned freely. Then after a couple of rides they became rougher and near seized up. Opened them up and made sure they were clean of debris and were adequately lubed. Tried to adjust tension on the nuts inside to allow them to spin. Its just like there is no middle ground. Either too tight and they barely spin if at all, or too loose and there is play in the pedal. The design seems odd with the nut up against the ball bearings causing them to seize. Maybe I just got some duds?? I don't recommend these.

    • Hi Performance pedal at a great price

I build and sell custom road bikes and have sold about 40 of these pedals for both new and experienced road and mountain bike cyclists. Everyone loves their reliability, ease of use, lightness, and low cost. While lighter than a Shimano XTR pedal, the pedal is very robust and has a nice range of tension settings to meet everyone's preference. The stainless steel rub bar is simple genius to keep the SPD cleat floating w/o vertical chatter and the pedals rarely needs re-adjustment once it is set-up. Weight counts so re-consider spending more money on SHimano pedals that are heavier and perform no better although Shimano pedals are incredibly indestructible.

    • Nice alternative

Nice Alternative to "S" It works with my existing spd cleats. Maybe its just how I have them set up, but my foot comes out very easily when I want it to and not when I don't. It is much better than my old cleats. FYI It came with the tension set so low it would not hold onto my shoe. A couple of turns on the tension screw and it was perfect.

    • Great Pedals

Lightweight, easy to clip in and out of but secure while riding. Exustar is the up-and-coming brand in cycling accessories with high quality and reasonable prices.
