The Golden Era of 1960's Fall releases.
The producers decision to stay with a Black and White format provides a bit of a troubling feeling. However it does keep viewers with a consistent style throughout the series. I enjoy the shows from yesteryear and the simple times they represented. Tim Conway as Ensign Parker shows comedic talents that will mark a long and storied career to follow. This is a great series to enjoy for what it is. Viewers should let the show bring back the feel we shared when TV networks delivered solid fall lineups throughout the 1960's If you are not a baby boomer the series may be a bit more difficult to embrace but it may also deliver you some enjoyment that outweighs todays 18 hours of cell phone, internet and video games. A superb comedy series set during WW2. 3 seasons in the South Pacific & the 4th set in Italy. The cast was star studded with wonderful writers & produced to a believable situation.Even done in black & white you will get enrapt with the plots & characters.

Did I say comedy? You'll laugh until you hurt. Joe Flynn, Ernest Borgnine, and of course Tim Conway. Plus many guest stars before they were well known, like Raquel Welch, George Kennedy and many more.

I had never seen the TV show McHALE'S NAVY before. But I found a clip on Youtube, from the episode "Babette, Go Home," which featured one of my favorite actresses from the 1960s, Susan Silo. So, I had to have the DVD; and I have watched several episodes now and have been enjoying it immensely. It is a very funny show. You don't smile at the antics of the crew (including Ernest Borgnine, Carl Ballantine, Joe Flynn and the hilarious Tim Conway)--you laugh out loud. One of the best eBay purchases I've ever made.
