Imogen Heap - Ellipse
If you loved "Speak For Yourself," You will like "Ellipse." This album is merely a continuation of the previous one. I was hoping for more of an experimental sound such as a more prominent "De Hung" (see v-blog). Many of the songs are relatively short. "The Fire" just seemed like filler. It seemed like a much simpler attempt at "Hide and Seek." With just a piano and fireplace in the background, I was left disappointed. Unfortunately, "Ellipse" sounds more mainstream as foreshadowed by the opening track "First Train Home." In spite of the lack of chance taking, I still give this album a rating of "good" as it actually sounds good.If you loved "Speak For Yourself," You will like "Ellipse." Another Heap of Heap!
The latest album by grammy award winning artist Imogen Heap. A sort of blend of both pop and new age, Heap experiments with many different, interesting sounds and instruments - a feast for the ears! One of the truly talented and intelligent artists of the decade, she produces "intelligent music." Each track has something to say/express in a very real and personal way. Not a bad track on the album. The listener is drawn into her music in a surpisingly intimate fashion. Best listened to with good speakers or headphones/earbuds so one can appreciate the subtleties and care that Imogen puts into the production of her music. Her voice is very compelling, the kind of music you can listen to over and over again. It actually makes me smile! The listener wants to tell the artist "thank you" ... Where Is She Going?
I heard about Imogen Heap on a public radio interview she did a couple of months ago. I heard "Bad Body Double" and like it and did some searching for her. I purchased all three of her CDs but her second one was delivered first. I LOVED IT!! I listened to it non-stop. So I was very excited to hear "Ellipse" when it arrived. Her first CD is angry, her second CD is a classic, but I don't know where she's headed with this one. Its slow and waaay too mellow. Its over-the-top eclectic and difficult to follow. I have only listened to it twice and it was difficult each time. I don't know what to say except I don't like it and it hasn't grown on me. Ellipse is a wonderful album!
I highly recomend this album to any imogen heap or frou frou fan! The sound mixes and vocals are wonderful as well as the cello playing.

Imogen does it again!
This album is like candy for the ears. It is stunning and chillingly haunting. I find myself humming the tunes all day. Absolutely delicious!
