I bought these to gain several inches in working room under the mill head of my Chinese all-in-one mill lathe. The collet holder I was using positioned the cutters several inches below the quill: these position the cutter in the quill itself. In a quick test, I put a 1/2" spindle bolt in the collet, and tried to make it slip with a wrench: with minimal tightening on the drawbar it held firmly.
