Long lasting tone
Great tone that lasts awhile before going dull. I like "growl" and "zing" to my strings, and I can get that for quite a while with these D'Addario roundwound nickels. Not the most flexible though, seems like stainless steels are bit more bendable. I practice a couple of hours a week and play at least one live show a month. After about a month, I find myself cranking the mids and highs a little more on my Darkglass pedal to get the same aggressiveness out of the strings, but I can go on using them satisfactorily but I can usually go 2-3 months before I change out strings. Of course, you can go much longer if you like the less lively tone. Some guys like a "thud", "boom boom" tone and not so much mids and highs. If that's the case you can use these strings pretty much forever. (FYI: ... Great tone that lasts awhile before going dull. My strings of choice
I use these strings on all of my Fender basses. I use 45-100 gauge because that's what Leo wanted! Very good string life, great sound, great value. Highly recommended!

Versatile
For my use I find these strings very versatile. They are not too slinky and still have a great sound. I use them on all my electric basses which include Fender, Lakland, Gibson, and Rickenbacker. I especially like their feel and sound with slap playing. Besides their great quality, the price is very reasonable. Great product, I highly recommend these strings.

Good match for my G&L
Though I've tried other types and brands I come back to EXL 170's for their sound, moderate tension, excellent intonation and good longevity on my LB 100. At around $10 per set in a two pack it's a no brainer.
