"Sleeping Dogs" was written by Tim Carter and Jacob Krarup and was developed by United Front Games and published by the Square Enix London Studios. It was released worldwide in August of 2012 for a variety of consoles, including Microsoft Xbox 360, PC, and PlayStation 3 (PS3). "Sleeping Dogs" was originally slated to be published by an American company with a 2011 release date, but when things did not work out, Square Enix acquired the game and released it a year later. "Sleeping Dogs" is an action-packed, single-player crime drama presented as an open-world, third-person, and RPG game set in modern-day Hong Kong. Although the gameplay area is based on real areas in Hong Kong, there are actually four fictionally created districts within the game. They are named North Point, Central, Kennedy Town, and Aberdeen. Like most open-world games, each district provides different resources, purchasable items, and missions. "Sleeping Dogs" for Xbox 360 starts with an undercover cop named Wei Shen, who gets arrested when a drug deal goes wrong. While in jail, he runs into a childhood friend, Jackie Ma, who offers to let Wei Shen join his gang when they are released. Wei agrees and shortly thereafter is introduced to Winston Chu, who is a senior member of the Sun On Yee Triad and leader of the Water Street Gang. The Water Street Gang occupies the North Point area of Hong Kong, and their criminal activities revolve around low-level crimes, such as burglary, protection for local businesses, and petty theft. Wei Shen is put on various missions by Winston Chu to prove his loyalty to the gang. Despite convincing the gang members he is one of them, Wei Shen remains undercover to attempt to complete his goal of infiltrating the Sun On Yee from the inside. To navigate through Hong Kong on these missions, there is a map located in the bottom left corner of the screen. Like typical open-world games, the map shows the player’s surroundings and nearby locations, such as shops, missions, objectives, safe houses, and other important destinations. There is also a red health bar that shows the player where Wei Shen’s health is at, and it can be upgraded, turning it blue. Above the health bar, there is a little flame with a number inside that represents Wei Shen’s heat level, which is increased when participating in different criminal activities. Although a higher level of heat shows his loyalty to the gangs, it also causes more police to be around and have the ability to arrest Wei Shen again, therefore, forcing the player to hide and escape areas with nearby authorities. The main fighting technique in "Sleeping Dogs" involves hand-to-hand, which also includes the ability to counteract enemy attacks and use combo moves. Wei Shen has the ability to fight with various martial art techniques, including Kung Fu, Wing Chun, Muay Thai, and Tae Kwan Do, and he has the opportunity to increase skills and learn new techniques throughout the game. Despite the focus on martial arts, there is still a wide variety of weapons that players can use throughout the game, including automatics and explosives. "Sleeping Dogs" for Xbox 360 also has an online component with rankings against other players. The Xbox 360, PS3, and PC games all have downloadable content to further customize the game.

    Good Disc but with a faulty case.

    The game is good, disc working, new sealed; but with one issue. The case wont close properly (click in) when i try to close it. It keeps opening from the bottom.

    Amazing Product, Worth your time

    When i heard that True Crime Hongkong was dismantled and sold for parts to the highest bidder (square enix), I pretty much wrote off the game. A company willing to trash a game they put so much money and time into made it seem like the I.P. was in bad shape. Fast forward a couple months and Sleeping Dogs is released. I was suprised at how amazing it was. Gameplay is great. It's like a more martial arts based Grand theft auto game. The setting makes the game even better. I can't think of too many games that take place in a free roam Hong Kong. Graphics - Graphics range from amazing to kinda stilted, but over all its pretty beautiful. The story is pretty great, but its not anything really cutting edge. All in all its a great game and deserves some attention. If you're on the fence about ...

    A Must Play for anyone who plays GTA or Saints Row.

    This game is really great! If you are a grand theft auto/saints row fan than this give will really impress you. I prefer this game more over the other games because of the incorporated style of martial arts and the outfits. The graphics are good for this style of gameplay and the story is good. Overall a great game to own and play!
