Great product for the right users
Paasche Model D500 is a 1/10 H.P. oil-less diaphragm airbrush compressor that claims delivery of up to 40 psi. With properly thinned paint this air compressor works with any airbrush. It delivers .5 CFM at 20 PSI and uses a small brass air-bleed valve to regulate the pressure. It is quiet enough that you can operate it indoors without keeping the entire house awake. It will warm up with prolonged use generating moisture in the air stream so an inline moisture trap is a must. If you plan to use a non-Paasche airbrush or hose you will need a 1/4" N.P.T. adaptor. I have read some users having issues with pulsing air flow from compressors without a reserve tank attached and the 500D does not have one, but I have not experienced this with the 500D so far. The supplied rubber feet are tiny and the compressor will move around while operating. It weighs about 12 lbs. so I place mine on a small rug to prevent this. Mine came with an un-switched 6ft. Cord although I have seen others that carried an in line switch. The 500D diaphragm compressor is a very old design that has been eclipsed many times over. If you are a hobbyist doing small projects this compressor may be a viable and inexpensive alternative to more expensive types and models. It is more suited toward a new user just learning how to manage airbrush painting. Experienced users might want to spend a bit more for a more capable model offering advanced features than the venerable 500D.
