About this product

Product Information

In Mirror's Edge for the PlayStation 3, players take on the role of Faith in the city of Glass. Glass is a utopian city, free of crime and hatred. However, this utopian paradise was achieved with an iron fist, as the government spies on its citizens at all times. Faith is a runner, and it's her job to deliver physical messages from one person to another. Since the government can't track these messages, what Faith is doing is determined illegal. It's the transportation of one of these messages that sends Faith on the run. The campaign mode will take 10 hours for a seasoned gamer to complete. The game story was written by Rhianna Pratchett. Her other works include writing for games such as Tomb Raider and Heavenly Sword. The Mirror's Edge game for the PS3 had a release date of November 11th, 2008. In 2008, first-person action games all had similar gameplay, revolving mostly around guns. Mirror's Edge took a different approach, almost eliminating guns altogether. Faith's weapons are her fists and her flow. As a runner, her athletic abilities rival great athletes of any generation. Faith can jump great distances, shimmy down poles, run up walls, and slide under objects. At times, however, you may have to fight. The game gracefully blends the seamless parkour movements across rooftops and through buildings with stunning fighting action. In many cases, she knocks her opponents out with just one punch. Much of the gameplay in Mirror's Edge is about traversing from one location to another quickly. Developer Dice used motion capture software to ensure that Faith's movements were lifelike. Mirror's Edge for the PS3 is one of the few first-person games where you can see your character's forearms, legs, and shoes. After the story is complete, the fun is far from over. Publisher Electronic Arts added a Time Attack mode. This mode uses special maps that you'll only find here. In each level, you'll race against the clock for the fastest time. After finishing the level, you can upload your score to a global leaderboard. You can also download ghosts of other players to compete against on these leaderboards. The Mirror's Edge game for the PlayStation 3 features improved graphics. Game developer DICE took full advantage of the PS3's capabilities, adding improved character models and textures to this version. The first thing you'll notice about Mirror's Edge is its distinctive graphical style. The world of Glass is drawn in white and light blue hues. Red lines showcase the fastest route for Faith to run and any obstacles she needs to avoid. The soundtrack on this PS3 game is just as unique as its graphical style. Composed by Magnus Birgersson, it features a substantial amount of bass to get you pumped up. The theme song Still Alive by Lisa Miskovsky went on to become a hit among music fans and gamers alike. This Mirror's Edge game was a breath of fresh air in 2008 due to its emphasis on movement over guns. The Time Attack mode gives this game a near infinite amount of replay ability. If you're looking for an immersive PS3 game with a deep plot, this is an excellent choice.

  • A must play and a unique perspective on the FPS genre

Graphics: Primary yet Contemporary 8/10 Sound: Great – 8/10 Gameplay: Great – 8/10 Replay Value – Good (for a single player only game) 8/10 Overall – 8/10 Graphics: Primary yet Contemporary 8/10 The graphics go right along with the story – a future utopia that is perfect on the surface, and vibrant in life, is cracking from within. The use of whites and primary colors, along with the blur effects, really puts you in the shoes as a runner. The environments are basic, however, create the feel of what Mirror’s Edge is. Sound: Great – 8/10 The footsteps and the use of surfaces is minor, but without this detail to sound, it would be impossible to jump. It tells you subconsciously that you are the one running and sets off a timer in your head to better play this game. The music, techno in ...

  • Mirror's Edge (Playstation 3, 2008)

This game was purchased for my older son (10 years old)He wanted something different, and had enjoyed playing the demo. It offers a different style of gamming, although prolonged play time sometimes gives him a headache because of the style of the game play. It is a "first person" type game at all times. You are running a lot across tops of buildings, down cables and more. The game is hard to get down at first, but after some practice and getting the controls down the play is fun, and interesting to watch. The "puzzles" you encounter remind me of tomb raider in a sense that you have to do things in particular way to make it and getting the controls down to do multiple things one after the other to make it from point “A” to point “B” with out falling or taking a bullet. It is very fast ...

  • The game idea is great and graphics and gameplay helps

If you want something different to play i highly recommend you to buy Mirror's Edge, the game is awesome! Just imagine all the possibilities for a "parkour", like jump, climb or run, incredible skycrapers and all! The first-person concept applied in this game is also unique, it really gives you a sensation that you are in the game! Well, sometimes it can gives you a headache or dizziness, in my case for instance i use to play only 1 hour a day, or else i don't feel so good, but of course, maybe it's just me... The main point of the game is running and jumping, but there are gunplay scenes too, i think it's not necessary, i would prefer only find a way to run away from the bullets, but i'm fine with that. Anyway, for a prototype game (and i think this is indeed a experimental one) it's ...

  • Different but fun.

cI played the free demo and I liked the concept of the game so I bought the full version. This is a first-person runner game unlike most FPS games. The graphics are good but lack in color since almost everthging is white. The control of the character becomes increasingly more difficult as you progress in the game -- sometimes to the point where the move is almost impossible. Fighting "blues" is not as smooth as I'd like. The best approach is to kill everyone possible but the controls are not intuitive and the slow motion feature lags. I'm not a big fan of timed events in any game. I prefer to play video games at my own pace and this is not always an option with Mirror's edge. This game is fun but keep in mind that your character has no self-preservation insticts whatsoever. She ...
