Save your brother from the nefarious Mr. Big in "Target Renegade." Like most beat 'em up video games, it's all about rescuing a helpless victim from a kidnapper, although the victim here is a brother rather than a girlfriend. It's all about the classic button-mashing style of gameplay, but the controls are sufficiently finicky that it takes a few tries to figure everything out. You only get one life for the whole game, but you do have a refillable health bar so you can take a bit of a beating. Like all NES games of the era, it's not easy.

Target: Renegade rocks!
For those that loved the cheesy beat em up called Renegade, prepare for the next level. Target: Renegade offers the same punch em and kick em fun that the original offered as well as some weapons and more diverse locations. The visuals have improved quite a bit thanks to artist Craig Houstin, and the game is just long enough that it avoids feeling tiresome and repetitive. That being said, there are some things not so wonderful about the game. For straters, it's hard. And I don't mean challenging. It's just plain hard! Enemies will exploit your every weakness and some do far more damage than they should considering they're in the early stages of the game. Target: Renegade also fixed the control issues of the previous game by keeping the punch button and kick button the same(As ... This makes the combat feel a bit stripped down when compared to, say, the first Double Dragon. Timing your attacks is also a bit harder than it should be. One miss-step, and your flying kick is absolutely useless. Gang members also surround you too easily, so the damage you take in a few seconds is usually fatal. Still, Target: Renegade is a fun brawler from an ill fated system of the eighties.

For the Beat’em Up/brawler fans
I’ve been collecting beat’em up games and this wasn’t on my radar, but what a delightful surprise once I found it! Challenging like the 1st renegade with a vibrant color pallet reminiscent of DD II. Worth the price for 80’s nostalgia alone.

IF you are nekketsu kunio fan,don't miss it
I bought NES Target: Renegade because it is one in nekketsu kunio games which release on NES only not on Famicom.I want to collect full set of nekketsu kunio games.
