Product Information

A cinematic sci-fi adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island, Disney's Treasure Planet supplants the novel's sea-faring antics with an intergalactic setting; solar-sail ships are commonplace, as are cyborgs, mutants, and shape-shifting creatures. Mimicking the events of the animated feature film, this PS2 title details the adventures of Jim Hawkins, who, accompanied by an assortment of characters, sets out on a quest to find the fabled Treasure Planet. Guided by a holographic map, Jim will have to explore numerous worlds and complete the tasks set before him in order to activate the requisite number of beacons that will lead him to his next destination. Five objectives are presented to the player in each world, including such duties as collecting 100 golden drubloons or acquiring ten Green Energy icons, among other level-specific goals.<br><br>Though he's capable of punching and kicking his way through the hostile worlds, Jim will often need to enlist the aid of Morph -- his floating, amorphous sidekick -- to overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles. By finding and using "Morph Pads," the little creature can transform into helpful implements, such as giant robotic arms with which to obliterate doors or pick up heavy objects, or even a jetpack to facilitate brief flight. However, these abilities can only be sustained for a limited time. A second gameplay format, solar-surfing, breaks up the standard action and sees Jim riding atop a hybrid windsail-hoverboard contraption. In these segments, players will race against the clock, perform rudimentary extreme sport tricks and, yet again, acquire important items, such as drubloons.<br><br>Familiar faces include the likes of the cyborg John Silver, Captain Amelia, and Dr. Doppler, all of whom assist Jim as best they can, offering advice and tips along the way. As is often the case with movie-based games, resource material has been taken from the feature film, offering animated cut-scenes and other rewards designed to please fans.

    my kids love this!

    AWESOME! my kids love this. very family friendly. a plus in my book. :-) the solar surfing of course is the best part. at this point in their lives we are teaching them to not give up just because something is hard, but to take the challenge and realize they can do more than they thought they could. this is a fun way for them to learn this. and the hoots of accomplishment bring a smile to my heart.

    Fun game with cool worlds to explore & cool steam punk elements to see.

    The reason I bought this game is that I liked the movie & it's steam punk elements & I wanted to buy clean steam punk games. So this seamed like an obvious choice. I have not finished this game yet but I have enjoyed what I've played so far. I really like the worlds that you get to go through & explore. The solar surfing is awesome &, like I mentioned earlier,I also like the unique steam punk elements in it. It does get challenging in certain parts but to me that makes it a better game. |||||[8}D
