    Zoo Med 501 External Filter

    Others have already said it. This is a great filter, but the biggest problem is removing the top for routine cleaning. I have tried prying it off with a screwdriver. Not recommended. It chews away at the plastic. Water leaks out & air leaks in through the little slide bars. I found a solution to this by adding an extra "rubber band thing", (the rubber band provided that goes around the top of the clear tank) from an old 501 filter. Since only one comes with the 501, you either have to buy an extra for 50 cents, or save your old parts. People complain that the clear hoses get brown and dirty. Well, yeah, after all they are removing poop debris and this is as expected. People recommend using pipe cleaners to clean the tubes. Where do you find 2-foot long pipe cleaners? You need ...

    quiet, easy to clean, keeps water smelling fresh

    The motor of my first Zoo Med Turtle Clean 15 Canister Filter died after several years of continued use. This product lasted longer than other filter motors I owned in the past. Out of all the filters I've ever owned this was my favorite. I have very little slippage while cleaning and subsequently priming this system.

    Great small tank filter

    A small canister filter is not easy to find. TC-30 does an excellent cleaning job, is quiet, and very compact. If looking for a canister filter for a small tank - this choice is a no-brainer.

    the item that i received is not the same as what is posted, i don't want to waste my time by returning it & decided to just keep it, but when i plugged the garbage to the outlet it stopped after running only for not more than 3 minutes...it ended up in the junk yard!
