  • Anthem by Ayn Rand

This particular paperback copy of "Anthem" is interesting in that it includes the author's original draft, with her numerous editoral corrections and deletions written in her own hand. One of the finest stories of human triumph, this author takes us on the amazing journey of one man bound by the chains of a stark, loveless, and brutally collective society yet who's spirit cannot be broken as he dares to dream of and reach out for a better world. I believe the message that speaks loudest to me in this great story is the fact that we cannot ever expect things to change by allowing them to stay the same. Some rules must be broken in order to achieve great things, and some truths will remain abundantly clear in spite of being against the grain of what is "acceptable to society". Human spirit ...

  • This book will get you thinking!

Great book, though it is a classic---my 13 year old son and I enjoyed reading it together and he could definitely see its importance and applications to today's society, governmental control, and the need for free-thinking. We are also looking forward to the movie Atlas Shrugged when it comes out which was another excellent book written by her. Ayn Rand was definitely an author way ahead of her time, and will get your thinking. This book has undertones of the fear brought about during the pre WWII era similar to George Orwell's 1984. I highly recommend it!

  • Marked up

This book is so marked up and crossed out by the previous owner that is is unreadable. Should’ve been thrown in the bin instead of sold. Lame.
