A feminist take on the story of Jacob and Joseph
The Red Tent is the story of Jacob and his sons, written from the point of view of the daughter, Dinah. The first half follows the bible version fairly believably, while the second half pulls from various non-cannonical sources to place Dinah back into the path of her famous brother, Joseph, in Egypt. Jacob was painted much more sympathetically than he is in the actual bible (I always thought he was not very likable and not somebody I would trust, much to my CCD teacher's chagrin). Dinah was interesting, a bit of a feminist Mary Sue, but considering who her grandmother was, I suspect that women may have had a lot more agency back then, than was later attributed to them in later iterations of the bible. MY FAVORITE MOVIE, EVER!
The drama in the movie is addicting. The romance, filed with love, is captivating and pure. There's so much more I could say about this movie, but I wouldn't dare spoil it for the one's who have not watched it yet. Overall, 'The Red Tent' is phenomenal!!!!!!

I really enjoyed this outstanding movie. The story was interesting as it ranged through the barren mountains of the ancient Middle East to the palaces of Egypt the characters Dinah and her brother Joseph remained true to themselves through many trials. The characters were engaging and the acting excellent. At four hours it's divided into two parts so is also a very good value for your entertainment dollar.I really enjoyed this outstanding movie. Great movie
I enjoyed this movie. Made you think about a lot of that took place back in biblical times. This movie made me want to read the bible to find out the differences in my interpretation and what was portrayed in the movie. Watching this movie was a good way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
