About this product

Product Information

Pretend, (practically) perfect puppies come to life in this triple-release line of pet simulators from Nintendo. In Nintendogs, players adopt, raise, and train an impressively intelligent virtual dog, of a breed they choose. In addition to Labrador retrievers, this version of the game offers Miniature Schnauzers, Toy Poodles, Pembroke Welsh Corgis, Miniature Pinschers, and Shiba Inus. The dogs can be taught a number of tricks, and even entered into virtual dog shows to earn cash for useful items.

The most distinguishing elements of the DS interface allow players to interact with their pets. The touch screen is used to for physical interaction. Rub the puppy's belly and he might kick his leg; poke his foot and he'll pull it back in surprise. The stylus is also used to manipulate in-game items, including the dog's leash and variety of toys. Players must communicate with their dogs by voice, as well, and a new puppy may need to hear the name he's given (spoken into the DS microphone) numerous times before he learns to respond properly.

In addition to the regular attention he'll expect from his owner, the puppy will appreciate a chance to interact with other computer-generated canines. Nearby Nintendogs players can meet in virtual community parks, supported by the DS' wireless communication capabilities, where their dogs can romp and frolic together. Each of the three versions of Nintendogs is distinguished by a title species (the other two are Miniature Dachshund and Chihuahua), but all editions of the game are designed to interact with one another, regardless of breed.

  • Nintendogs: BORING!

I guess if you live somewhere you can't have a Dog and really want one this is the game for you. First, you go to the Pound and Pick out the puppy you want. Then you go home and begin training the puppy. You Pick a name and then say the name SEVERAL times into the built-in Mic. in order to get the Puppy to learn its name. You can also teach your new Puppy numerous tricks. Sit, Roll-Over, Spin, Lie Down, Stay, etc.. All of the commands are spoken by the player and recognized by the DS. You can also enter your Puppy into Obedience, Agility and Flying Disk Catching Contests. You can win money in these events and buy things from the store. Such as, Food, Water, Toys, Shampoo, Brushes, Toys, etc..... You can also take your Puppy for a walk and Link-up with other Players via the ...

  • Great game! No case, but was definately well worth it!

I love the gameplay. Nintendogs basically brings to the screen what other games fail miserably to. Nintendo brought us some SPECTACULAR creations, like the Nintendo DS for example, where you litterally feel like you're playing with reality. Dogs who perform tricks, no, not at the push of a button, but by VOICE COMMAND. This feature boggles the mind and excites viewers. Enjoyable? I have been enjoying every moment of it.

  • GREAT GAME. PERFECT FOR DOG LOVERS! ( like me!)

This game is perfect if you are bored. You may look a little silly talking to a gameboy but it is so much fun. The game could have been better. I hate when you turn the game on after not playing it for a week, and all of the dogs you have are starving and dirty. They all need a bath. I have 8 dogs in this game and when I turn the game on, I have to give them ALL bathes. It is really annoying. I hate games that keep playing even when you turn the game system off. I RECOMMEND THIS GAME A LOT. (Here is a tip. If you buy this game, only buy 1 dog until you have defeated the championship level in 2 out of the 3 "trials". Then you buy another if you want. THIS WILL INSURE YOU THAT OUT OF ALL THE DOGS YOU MIGHT HAVE, AT LEAST 1 OF THEM IS ABLE TO MAKE YOU GOOD MONEY FROM THE TRIALS.)

  • Nintendogs: Lab & Friends (Nintendo DS, 2005)

My daughter just had to have this game. A friend of hers has it and they no longer carry it in the stores around us. Now that she has it, she and her brother take turnes taking care of their dogs (on the game). We willsee how long it lasts. I don't play the games so I can't say anythig bad about it, I don't even know how to turn them on. My kids enjoy the games that they can do the mobile downloads, especially for the long weekend road trips to the wonderful upper penisula here in Michigan!
