    Fantastic lens!

Last year i asked my professional photographer friend if he could let me use a telephoto lens that was longer and better than my Canon EF-S 18-135mm STM to photograph my boy's high school soccer games. So, he introduced me to the Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 (non-IS). Wow what a difference this lens makes! My photographer friend uses his lens mostly for weddings but told me that it's an excellent lens for sports. I am very glad to have saved for an entire year to get this lens.

  • Perfect glass for an impressive camera.

I spent an awful lot on my camera 2 years ago, and have been saving manically to get the lens to match. I saw many older versions on e-bay, and kept being outbid. There prices were only short of a NEW mark 2, so I went for it. How DID I manage before? It performs faster, has IS to help the old shaky arms(!!), and the results are mind boggling. I was NEVER ashamed of my camera, but am even prouder with this lens on the end. You may ask does a lens make any difference to image taking? Basically...NO. Its your eye for composition, details of subject and using the correct light for what YOU want in your picture. Get the elements RIGHT, THEN it can be ruined with inferior glass. Nikon has led for years....Canon has come up trumps with this little beauty. Just have to take a prize winning shot ...

  • If you can stretch to it, buy one. will not depreciate like some others.

Picture quality is exactly what you pay for and what you get! I am no better a photographer for owning this lens but the images |I record are just that bit more satisfying. I spent a great deal of time on forums/reading reviews/trawling ebay for the bargain that did not arise. I was very close to buying the Sigma equivalent but ended up wondering if I would live to regret it. Ended up with a 2011 model for £900 and judging by the many others I watched, I won't lose out too much if I resell. Saving for a doubler to match now. Bought specifically for action shots in dingy sports centres but very good all round. A little heavy though.

  • An awesome lens

I was using an inferior lens with roughly the same specifications at my son's wedding. I was horrified to find the lens sometimes did an autofocus but kept locking up. Fortunately I had another lens this time a Canon which saved the day. I resolved to buy the Canon EF 70-200 f2.8 L USM and it was the best thing I ever did. It is smooth with it's autofocus, sharp pictures of excellent quality, and of course it looks awesome. A superb lens of quality.

  • Canon EF 70-200

Great lens. Good price. New it sells for $1500. The only reason I rated it 4 star is because it does not have image stabilization. But a very good lens non the less.
