As far as brightness, I can't say if the marker is brighter, but the brake is definitely brighter. I've tried a few different LED lights and this style works well with a chrome reflector in the housing. It did need a resistor to keep the tail light warning light off, but since the resistors run hot I opted to remove the warning bulb from my Honda Ascot. I'm happy with this purchase
