  • Are we defined by our skin color?

Hamid owes a great debt to Jose Saramago's Blindness, which was a brilliant and chilling account of a pandemic which swept a terrified populace. This is a similar, well written story with attitudes toward skin the compelling story line. If you like this novella, try Saramago.

  • Interesting.

A short fast read. Sets up an interesting gloomy tension. Deals well with serious subjects through the eyes of a few unremarkable people. The racial issue is treated well. Some have compared it to Kafka's Metamorphosis but that is really way too far of a stretch and there really is no comparison. Somewhat banal and murky but still interesting. The author is trying to get across basic humanity and succeeds. He does create a feeling of a menacing confused environment very much like today's reality. Definitely worth a read.
