Tecmo Super Bowl marks its debut on the Genesis after enjoying success on the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). The game features both the NFL and NFLPA licenses, 28 teams, three different schedules (1990-93) with eighteen weeks each, and battery backup to save statistics and standings. For those new to the series, the game uses a horizontal view of the field with a strong emphasis on arcade action. Yet the game doesn't skimp out on team management functions typically found in simulation oriented games. You can customize your playbook, adjust the quarter length in one-minute increments, substitute players who are in poor condition or injured, or choose coach mode which involves just calling the plays.

Tecmo super bowl genesis
Good but just isn’t as fun as the nes Tecmo super bowl version. Has some of the same sounds but the kickoff music isn’t good. It’s been changed from the original version. Game plays ok but just isn’t up to par the way they tweaked it. Glad I only paid 7 bucks for it. I will keep it just a little disappointed.

This game was the precursor to that yearly game that costs us at least $50 everytime. When this game came out, the world of sports has seen nothing like it. The style of game play is arcade like, yet realistic. If you just want to have fun and not worry about the Ram Dogs Middle Linebacker Blitz Safety Spy, this is the game for you. This game is the 2nd generation of the grand-daddy of them all. Sports Talk Football was rediculous and unrealistic. Madden was an infant and somewhat silly when this game was released. Tecmo Super Bowl paved the way for what we have today. If you still have a Sega Genesis or Super Nintendo laying around somewhere, dust it off and pick up this game.
