As advertised! Packaging was well done. It was refreshing to receive a true first edition first printing that was first off the true first first and second this copy arrived alive. Too many times a book will arrive in an ENVELOPE perhaps padded perhaps not. Books get destroyed if not packaged correctly. Thank you! Bid with confidence this seller is good to go.

  • The Adventure must begin here

Percy Jackson and The Lightning Theif is a three quarters adventure and one quarter mystery. When Percy finds out that his a half-blood (part god), his best friend is a stayr and his Latin Teacher is a centaur. He makes his way to Camp Half-Blood where he finds its hard fitting in and gets stuck in the Hermes cabin which is very cramped. He makes friends with the cabin cousler, Luke, who isn't like what he first seems. After that he gets 'claimed' by his dad, Poseidon, then his life is nothing but a mess when he makes an enemy of Zeus because someone stoled his lighthning bolt and he is blamed. Now, its a race against time to find the master bolt and get it to Zeus without dying along the way. He meets many different Gods and monster along the way. The mystery part of it is who stoled the ...

  • Helps Struggling Readers!

The Lightning Thief is a great book that not only gives students a great introduction to Greek Mythology, but also uses easy word choice and an interesting plotline that appeals to students who don't normally read. I especially like that it appeals to kids who struggle with reading (Dyslexics, etc.) by saying that if you have trouble reading it may be that you (Like Percy) are a demi-god. Additionally, it's the start to a series, so kids who get hooked, keep going!

  • It was a good value and I know he will enjoy it,

It is a gift for my grandson's birthday coming soon. He enjoys these books. It keeps his interest.

  • Poorly written

I suspect Rick Riordian hired a ghost writer or two for this series. Granted these are stories for children but they are so poorly conceived and completely unbelievable that I could not finish the series and gave up halfway through the second novel. As a fan of Riordian's detective novels, I was sorely disappointed with his Olympian's series. Not recommended.

  • Great

5 out of 5 for the actual book. Practically new. Giving a four star rating since shipping took so long.
