    Gutsy film that is gut-wrenching. Not for the faint-hearted. Well done and thought-provoking

    A rape victim seeking justice. A young woman is gang-raped in a bar. But charging the perpetrators with rape may not be a good idea because, frankly, the young woman may well have been asking for it. Does dressing and acting provocatively mean that you deserve to get raped? This film addresses the moral issues attached to rape very effectively, and features excellent performances from Kelly McGillis as the District Attorney tasked with pursuing the line most likely to meet with success, and Jodie Foster as the victim. Jodie Foster sears the screen as a gang-rape victim. The rape scene is self is brutally staged but unfortunately that what was needed here.     When No Means No!!!!!!!!!!!

    Based on a real-life incident, Jonathan Kaplan's hard-hitting drama is an eye-opener, examining a woman's right to exhibit her sexuality, and still not be physically violated against her will. Oscar winner Foster is riveting in a gritty, largely unsympathetic role, and McGillis provides an ideal counterbalance as a somewhat sheltered lawyer whose social conscience gets re-awakened. Absorbing from start to finish, "The Accused" is definitely not for kids or the squeamish. The movie also shows a legal system that places barriers in front of the individual who suffered one of the most heinous crimes imaginable. She is everything but a victim; a liar, a drunk, a drug addict, a "bad" person. CAUTION: The rape scene is graphic and depicts the utter viciousness of such attacks.

    Excellent condition ~ Great movie!

    This is a very intense movie! Well-acted, charged and emotional. The viewer is sure to become involved in a variety of emotions. Jodie Foster does an excellent job at portraying a young woman who drinks a little too much at a bar and pays the price as men take advantage of her. The movie is very good at showing public reaction to incidents like these. Incidents in which the victim isn't viewed very compassionately by the community. Many people close their eyes to crimes in which the victim was at one time willing. As the movie goes on, the victim's experience becomes explosively clear. Are the men involved actually "guilty of rape"? That answer comes at the end of the movie. Excellent movie!

    Jodie deserved the Oscar! Great talent!!

    First off I admit I'm biased; I own just about all her movies no matter how small her part. She did a fantastic job portraying the range of emotions a woman must feel in that situation. The rest of the cast did an amazing job as well. Edge of your seat kinda movie. Sad that our society has gotten so brutal and uncaring; and that was 20 years ago. Today it might end up on utube.
