About this product

Product Information

Square's Ehrgeiz is a 3D fighting game featuring 360° movement within elevated environments. Eleven of the world's finest combatants, including characters from Final Fantasy VII, have entered a tournament to win an ancient weapon. A series of ten fights comprise the tournament, with each fight requiring two victories to advance. Characters can fire projectiles or string together high, mid, and low attacks. They can also guard, spin to dodge blows, and perform interrupts to counter special moves. <br><br>One of the game's standout features is its number of play modes. The three main options include Arcade (fight characters in succession until you defeat the final boss), Versus (choose the stage, set the handicap, and challenge a friend), and Practice (characters have unlimited time and health). Four mini-games are also available. "Infinity Battle" involves defeating as many computer opponents as you can before your life meter runs out, while "Battle Runner" is a racing game that has characters trying to finish a course before their opponent. <br><br>"Battle Beach" consists of three events to test your button-tapping reflexes, and "Battle Panel" is structured like the classic strategy game, Othello: two teams try to occupy an 8x8 grid with panels of their respective colors. In a nod to Square's role-playing roots, Ehrgeiz also features a quest mode entitled "The Forsaken Dungeon." As one of two archaeologists searching for the spring of eternal life, you will battle monsters lurking within mazelike dungeons while collecting items, treasure, and equipment. You can also visit a village to replenish health or repair damaged armor or weapons.

    Nice combination.

It’s really 2 games in one. While featuring characters from Final Fantasy VII in a 1v1 fighter game, it also has a full fledged dungeon crawler portion of the game that’s very interesting.

  • so close but no cigar

I bought this game cause I played it a really long time about when I was a kid. It was probably 10 years ago. Anyway the main reason why I bought the game was for the story mode that you can play. I really enjoyed it a lot and to honestly tell you the truth it held up well for a 10 year old game. The thing that left a sour taste in my mouth was that in the story mode the big disappointment was the ending. I wont go into details here cause I don't want to ruin it for you but its a little bit of a let down. There are other mini games that you can play that are good, the fighting mode or tournament mode is good but the combos are lacking. Graphics hold well for the age of the game. The soundtrack for the story mode is off the chain and the interface is easy to get used to and learn. ...

Ehrgeiz, a sony playstation game which allows you to fight your way through a series of stages to become the ultimate fighter. Squaresoft, the producers of Ehrgeiz, used characters from their hit sensation, Final Fantasy 7 to increase the credibility of the game. You are allowed to use characters such as Tifa, Yuffie, Sephiroth, and Cloud in two different modes. A 3D Fighting mode and a Mini Game mode(both modes are compatible with two players). The Games consist of four different games, Infinity Battle, Battle Runner, Battle Beach, and Battle Panel. Each mode testing the players skills as well as their smarts. Besides the fighting and Mini Games you are enable to enter a realm of adventure of a one player quest mode. This mode allows a player to build their character with armor and ...

  • Great game; even if you are not a FFVII fan. High replayability. Booyah!

Simply put, this game is a gem. It offers the chance for any gamer to play through multiple times. Not to mention the variety of mini-games including an excellent dungeon adventure which harkens back to the dungeon crawlers of days of old. The game has a slew of secrets and alternate costumes for the fighters to be obtained offering many hours of game play and non-stop fun. Nearly all of the fighters are unique in combat as much as they are in appearance, offering a new experience with each character. As for the combat, this game has some of the most extensive combo systems one could ever experience in a fighting game. Trying to pull off some of the "just" combos can be frustrating, but does give the player a sense of accomplishment when finally done correctly (allowing the player to ...

  • Ehrgeiz

this is a great fighter game. my favorite part about it is that you can use final fantasy 7 characters in a fighting game. i played this game a lot years ago, and i don't know what happened to it but i was able to find another at ebay at a reasonable price (wasn't exactly cheap but this is a pretty rare game and it came in great condition). i love how it isn't just a fighter game, it's like getting 3 games in one; the main arcade fighting game, mini games like racing and a strange puzzle type game requiring you tag squares on the ground, and even a role-playing game mode. i haven't gotten around to playing the RPG dungeon quest mode of it too much but i like what i've seen so far. i like how in arcade mode you can get good or bad endings, depending on whether or not you beat the final ...
