About this product

Product Information

Designed exclusively for play on the Nintendo DS handheld, Sands of Destruction is a console-style role-playing game with 2D turn-based combat and an anime-inspired art style. In an unusual storyline, players quest to save the world by ending it. The adventure takes place in a desert game world, with players in the role of a gentle young man named Kyrie. The hero has, somewhere deep within him, the power to destroy the world, but he has no knowledge of why. Kyrie is joined by a rebellious warrior called Morte, whose past is a mystery but who now leads an insurgent group known as the World Annihilation Front. Morte and her companions fight alongside Kyrie against barbarous beastmen and huge monsters that stand both dual screens tall, in back-and-forth combat that includes Quick Timer-style events that allow players to enhance their characters' attacks by pressing button sequences to match on-screen cues. Players explore the sandy game world from an isometric perspective, and can rotate the camera to see their characters from multiple directional viewpoints. Hundreds of hand-drawn animated cut-scenes provide insight into the characters and move the plot forward. The story of Sands of Destruction was created by Masato Kato, a veteran scenario writer whose previous work includes contributions to the original Ninja Gaiden games for NES, and games in Square's Final Fantasy and Chrono series, as well as the later Mana series for PS2 and DS. Sands of Destruction inspired a manga adaptation in Japan, as well as a 13-episode anime series, localized for distribution in North America by Funimation following the U.S. release of the game.

    Fantastic Game

Loved the anime series, but loving the game even more! Story, characters, voice cast, battle style are all great! The only thing that's kinda a downer is the openings animation quality; very pixilated. Other than that it's a game I definitely suggest buying

  • Sans Of Destruction. One Great Game.

Its a great game. One I highly recommend for people who love RPG's or just on people who like playing a game with a great story and characters. The controls are not the best however even with the strange Controls you can definitely enjoy the customization and moves of the charaters. The event sequences were a bit tedious and a bit bothersome but they really helped portray the story which I enjoyed so it was not too much of a pain. The game is fun and addicting and even though the game seemed a little challenging at first it was an overall great experience.

  • Sands of Destruction-Great Game

Some reviews I read said the game was that good. Since I don't rely entirely on reviews since one persons likes and dislikes are different than mine. This game was great and the story line was great. You get into the characters and games like this don't come along often. Enjoy!

  • I think it's fun

This game is pretty fun. Though there are some long points between actual game play and the characters doing their own thing as well as dialogue going a little slow. Though I'm sure there's a way to fix that I just haven't figured it out yet. Over all I'm happy with it, I've been looking forward to playing it ever since I watched the anime and I'm hoping the ending won't suck as much as it did in the anime XP.

  • best game

    love it, thanks
