PORTER CABLE QUALITY
I've only used this wet-tile cutter once, for a few dozen cuts of porcelain tile. It's only the third or fourth wet-tile cutter that I've used, and it's one of the best - regardless of price. I'm still experimenting with the best way to cut tile as I consistently get little spurs on my last cut. Although, they're easy to smooth off. The electric motor has plenty of power and runs smoothly. My sliding tray seems to be very slightly angled, and while it doesn't seem to affect the cuts, I may try to adjust it to make it perfectly flat. The only downside to using the machine is clean-up. After each dozen or so cuts, you need to stir the water in the plastic container and drain it, or you'll have sludge the consistency of elastomeric paint in the bottom of the water container when you're ... Good value for the money.
Tile guide that sits behind the blade is very difficult to adjust, the base is too big. I had to grind some off so it would line up with the blade correctly. I bought this for a bathroom approx. 6'x5', 12"x12" tiles 3/8" thick. I will also be using it soon to tile a 10'x12' laundry room.

I’m a professional tile setter and wanted a wet saw I could take into someone’s bathroom. I have larger equipment that does a great job however required set up in a garage due to noise and water spray. This saw is just what I needed for smaller size tile

Quality of components is fantastic , construction is fantastic, adjustability is pretty easy. Make sure to check and adjust your trays before using, there are multiple screws on tray and the rails to fine tune to make sure everything is straight ... it only takes approx 480-540 watts to run which is awesome as I can use my small generator if I ever needed to. As long as you don’t have too much water in it, deflects water nicely , barely throws any water on you. The sliding tray is very nice, it’s what makes it stand out From other similar sized wet saws. I am not sure if it’s the saw itself but on longer angled cuts it tends to chip the tile at the very end. It is easily remedied by just cutting a bit from the opposite side. I experimented with two other blades. A Pearl and a Ridgid blade and it does the same thing so I just make sure to cut from both sides and no problem! I made probably at least 100 cuts thus far in hard porcelain and the more I use it the more I like it. I have shaped pieces smaller then 1” with it. The angled fence works good too. The handles make it nice to carry with two hands when filled with water or just one hand when empty. Being able to stand on its side is nice too for one handed transporting. Just make sure to use a dressing block every 40 cuts or so and it keeps it cutting smooth like through butter..... it can be used indoors , putting a tarp down is ideal mainly because you are going to get debris from the tile cutting so clean up is super easy if you simply just put a small tarp or plastic sheeting down that you can contain the debris with and just fold up to bring outside etc. speaking of debris, wear eye protection , occasionally a piece of debris does get thrown at your face, not hard by any means at all but why take a chance, protect your eyes... its easy to clean, just pop the drain plug and use a hose nozzle on jet stream to work the tile debris out and from all the nooks and crannies , Then turn it on it’s side and shoot down the rest of the debris, wipe er down and good to go. it’s almost unbelievable that a wet saw of this quality only costs around $200! I am confident I made the right choice, I don’t see any wet saw under $400 that I would prefer over this!

First Rate Tool. Clean, easy cuts. Exceptional value. Avoid the "junky" saws if you can afford it.
For the price, the saw is outstanding. I bought, then returned, a Skil saw because it didn't have the capacity that I needed (the specs didn't even state the cutting capacity). After looking further, I decided on this one. Very glad that I did. I used to have a Harbor Freight 10" sliding table wet saw. It was a great tool, and the extra capacity made it possible to cut pavers in a single pass. That saw had the motor over top of the table, so it needed a pump to keep the blade wet. The pump was a little finicky, but otherwise the saw was a pleasure to use. As the pictures show, this saw has the motor below the table. Instead of a pump, it uses the "splash" method of keeping the blade wet, and it works very well. The sliding table functions smoothly, greatly increases the capacity, ... For the price, the saw is outstanding. I bought, then returned, a Skil saw because it didn't have the capacity that I needed (the specs didn't even state the cutting capacity). I was using it to cut a small herringbone marble mosaic, and it was possible to make even minor adjustments to get precise cuts. There was a little chipping at the end of the small cuts needed to square the edges to go inside a frame on a backsplash, but most of the cuts were clean and neat. Same is true of the miters I did on the pencil tiles that will form the frame around the herringbone. Just be patient, and at the end of a cut, make sure you let the blade do the work, only minimal pressure to be used. Another plus with this saw is that you can leave the water in the tub between uses (manual suggests cleaning weekly). I probably could have done that with my HF saw, too, but it didn't seem right. There are four downsides, but all are minor. The splash guard that covers the blade can obscure the cut line at times. It probably works without it, but I suspect that would be messy. There is only a guide for cutting 45 degree miters. Not an issue for the project I have, but it would be a problem for many others that I have done. If I needed to, I could make a jig to cut any angle. The other is the aforementioned 7" blade, so no single pass cuts on pavers. That is not the saw's fault. That is how it was designed, but keep it in mind if you might have the task in the future. Third is that there was a small bit of leakage from the tops onto the floor. It could be that I didn't have the saw completely level, which may have been the cause. Probably not realistic to think a wet saw would not let water escape somewhere, somehow, and the amount that left this saw was very minor. I read the one-star review, and I think I know what went wrong. When I first mounted my blade, I didn't have it correctly seated on the arbor. I turned on the motor, got the wobble that the reviewer described and knew immediately that something was wrong. Took off the nut, seated the blade correctly, and it worked like a champ. Thought I might have damaged the blade by my mistake, but it cut straight and cleanly, so I guess not. I didn't expressly mention the quality of the blade above, but that is another plus. There are 7" saws that cost nearly as much but don't have sliding tables. Spend the extra bucks to get this one, if you can. If all you need is a 7" blade, I wouldn't look any further than this one. You could pay twice as much and not get as good a tool.
