A hidden gem
This movie deserves a higher rating! I watched it free online and loved it so much I had to come here to buy it. For some reason it’s not available for sale anywhere else. A brilliantly acted and fearlessly written film that will make you both uncomfortable and entertained. I highly recommend.

Enjoyable and quirky movie
This movie was somewhat of a gay romantic comedy that reflected the cultural attitudes of the late nineties. The acting was very good especially Guadalupe Ontiveros who plays Beverly as a mentor to Buck. I thoroughly enjoyed the quirky sense of humor throughout the film and recommend watching it for anyone who likes this type of offbeat independent movie.

Painful to watch ... not realistic
I had hoped this movie would be better, however I found it painful to watch. The story begins with grown-up Chuck and Buck who had been childhood friends. Chuck had left his small town to pursue school and work while Buck stayed behind. The twist is that Buck never matured much past age 11 and is stuck acting/thinking like a child. They are reuinted when Chuck returns for Buck's mother's funeral. At this point, Buck begins to stalk Chuck and follows him back to LA and is unable to understnad that Chuck is 'grown-up'. The story unfolds and we learn that as children they had a sexual relationship that Buck would like to revisit, although Chuck is now married. The plotline moves along slowly and the childish behavior of Buck is hard to witness. It becomes even ... I had hoped this movie would be better, however I found it painful to watch. Great film; great concept, characters, and balance
Chuck and Buck is a dark comedy about a man obsessed with the idea of childhood and in particular, his old best friend. Performances are great, interesting plot, over the top in nature and tone, very engaging.
