  • Enlightened Rogues - Solid Allman Sounds from 1979

I've always loved the original Allman Brothers Band albums, particularly Fillmore East. I bought this to get a better idea of where the ABB had gone musically about 8 years after Duane's death. I had seen the band live about 1974 when Dickey Betts was the lone guitarist, and they were still great but obviously missing a key piece. Enlightened Rogues gets closer to their original sound and style, with the additional guitar of Dangerous Dan Toler. Dickey and Dan do quite a lot of dual guitar work and the result is a solid and very listenable set. A nice touch is the participation of Bonnie Bramlett for background vocals on Crazy Love - kind of closes a circle that goes back to Delaney and Bonnie, Clapton, and Duane's work with Derek and the Dominos. Certainly not the ...

  • Pegasus!

Under-rated 1979 Allman Bros album. Every cut is good, no klunkers, but Pegasus is outstanding, stands with the best of Bett's instrumentals. It's great to hear Dickie and Gregg trading lead vocals on Try it. A great effort.

  • ANOTHER WINNER FOR THE ALLMANS

I wrote a great review of this album and then it didn't go through. It took me 1/2 hour to write and then it just disappeared. So I'll just say this is a great album. I love it. If you love the Allmans you will not be disappointed. I hope this review goes through. I'm not "wasting time no more" Great set of songs.
